Hello friends!
Since 2004, English-language Time4God services have been organized in the Gasthuiskerk in Middelburg, thanks to the help of volunteers in the committee, as well as musicians and speakers. We are grateful for all the years that these services could be held. But times change….Many churches now use translation programs, and the number of students and other non-Dutch-speaking visitors is declining. Therefore the May service will be the last one in this (monthly) form. We are considering restarting with four services per year and will keep you updated if this plan goes ahead.

Many people have contributed to the services since 2004, for example Dave and Nelie Jackson in the early years. Dave passed away last month, and we are grateful for who he was and what he did for others.

His son-in-law Rahman Yakubu will lead this final service. Music comes from Alitha v.d. Dries, Jan-Arie Plateeuw and Flip Markwat. The service starts at 7:30 PM, and afterwards there will be coffee and tea and time to meet others. See you on Sunday!

About Rahman

Having grown up in a Muslim family in Ghana, Rahman became a Christian in his teens through a Korean missionary. In Teacher Training College, he noticed he was spending most of his time doing outreach and ministry, which helped him understand God’s calling on his life. During a mission outreach as part of his Bible college education, he ventured into a district that had not had much contact with Christianity. This made such an impression on him that he went back to minister there after graduating. After meeting and marrying his Dutch wife Nelleke, he spent a few years in the Netherlands, before returning as a family for ministry among his own people group. After 12 years of holistic ministry through development work (mostly focusing on healthcare and education), the family was called back to the Netherlands for the sake of their three daughters’ education. They lived a few years in Middelburg and then moved to Zaandam. Rahman is a teacher at Tyndale Theological Seminary in Badhoevedorp.
